WHAT WE BELIEVE

We, the administration, staff, parents and students of Frederick Douglass Academy Charter Middle School believe that we can learn from life and at the same time, life can learn from us.

We believe that:
  • We must create a strong community of academic achievement
  • We must embrace a life-long love of learning that shall comprise conscientious and critical thinking
  • We must prepare our students for academic and social success as they seek a higher education

We believe that:
  • Character of our students must be built on a foundation of inner strength
  • We must optimize each and every student’s self-esteem by constructing personal responsibility, infusing leadership skills, and instilling accountability for individual learning.
  • Our students must possess the ability to collaborate respectfully that they will foster caring and active partnerships that will lead to productive and prolific students.
  • Our students will be those who will work tirelessly and diligently to make a difference, not only in their own lives, but also in the lives of others.

We believe unfailingly that our students will gather the tools, the skills, and the knowledge to become active and responsible citizens of not only their village and community, but of the entire world.

We also believe that tomorrow is ours to shape in a way that will inspire others, and if we utilize honesty, respect, and humility, we will become the compass that shall direct all community interactions, and ultimately the world itself.
